How does Display Ads work?

Once we’ve created the Display Ad for your business on the Google Display Network, you will be assigned a “Keyword” or Search Term. These terms can be set up as either an exact match, or if you want to target people searching for something specific like “best mens trainers in the world”, we can set that up to target this “exact match” keyword.

When people search for the exact match keyword you have set up, the Display Ad you have set up will appear in the search results.

In some cases, Google will show your business a list of related keywords that are all very closely related to your key phrase. This will help you to further refine the key phrase and can produce more results.

You’ll also have some control over the placement of your Display Ad in search results – it can appear either at the top, right, left or in the middle.

The first impression is the most important

You want to make sure your Display Ad is the first thing people see when they search. That’s where “Placement” comes in.

We have a range of “Placement” options – from the 1st position (The top of the search page), the 5th position (in the middle), to the bottom of the page (2nd position). There are also options to target your ad to “People in the UK”, “People in the USA” or “People in Australia”.

When people click on your Display Ad you get a conversion rate, and the better it is, the more money you’ll make.

So what is PPC?

PPC or pay-per-click is the same thing.

But where the pay comes in, is where it gets interesting.

Google and Bing both have “Ads” where people can advertise their website, products or services. When someone types in a relevant search they are directed to the “Google” or “Bing” website.

These Ads are also split into categories, like “Display” and “Search”. They show up for every search in the same way as Display and Search Ads, with one difference: it’s you (or your business) paying for that Ad.

This means that if you want a really targeted display ad you have to pay more. If you only want 10 search ads, you can pay a little or you can pay a lot. Google is very competitive, and we offer great rates for small or medium businesses.

How much will it cost?

You’ll pay $0.50 per click on Google and $0.45 per click on Bing.

As you pay more, you’ll pay less per click. So, you can see that it’s not very expensive for ads that aren’t very competitive.

But if you are paying $1 or more for a product, your ad will always be seen.

How do I set this up?

AdWords is all about keywords and bidding.

Keywords are the words or phrases you’d like to rank for, and your budget is how much you’d like to pay for it.

Bidding is how much you’d like to bid for a certain keyword.

So let’s say you want to rank for “best weight loss tips”. You can see below, the results from the Display and Search Networks (and the number of impressions and clicks it received).
